So for the Fambly Secret Santa, I was assigned Jamie! The request I picked to draw was "Mort interacting with a Fambly member (so whoever pick it is, I’d like to Mort interacting with them in the best way they think it would happen :3)"

Well, the best way for Mort and Dao to interact is by fighting pirates. BUT OTHER THAN FIGHTING PIRATES (because the pirates fight is something I want to draw anyway later) what is a good way for them to interact?

Well, there's only one answer to that. Hannah and Malcolm may be buddycops, but Mortimer and Dao are clearly HARDBOILED NOIR DETECTIVES.

Of course, now my mind is spiralling down the Alternate Universe rabbithole, and I have an entire headcanon story :I Mortimer is the world-weary PI and Dao is his partner in crime law enforcement. They're currently on the tail of infamous violinist mobster Chase Austerby, who Mort's mentee before he Went Bad. Now Mort has to hunt down his old protégée, and the assorted scoundrels that make up his 'Fambly', and BRING THEM TO JUSTICE.

Possibility of Mort, Dao or both saying "I'm too old for this shit" even though that's technically a buddycop thing and not a hardboiled noir detective thing: through the roof.
